Halifax has added a free energy performance certificate test to its green living reward home loan.
The lender’s green scheme allows homeowners who make energy-efficiency improvements, such as insulation, windows, solar panels or a heat pump within a year of the completion of their loan can claim cashback of up to £2,000, to help pay for the upfront costs of these upgrades.
The firm says the new energy performance certificate assessment “will help customers understand the impact of the changes they’ve made as well as suggest further ways they can continue to improve their energy-efficiency”.
It adds that any customer who has made a new purchase, remortgage, further advance or product transfer application from 31 July is eligible for its green living reward and – and those who successfully make a claim will be entitled to a free test.
There is no minimum energy performance certificate rating to a customer’s property for them to be eligible for a green living reward cashback.
The business adds when a customer receives email confirmation of their successful green living reward claim and cashback payment, they will be sent an email will include details of the free assessment. Customers will have three months to schedule a test.

The firm said a home’s energy efficiency “has an impact on energy bills which, in turn, has an impact on disposable income”.
